* Jean, Jane and Agnes (Marion) were born in South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.
All of the other children were born in Hinchinbrooke, Quebec, Canada. There is a story that one of the children died on the voyage to Canada and was buried at sea. Possibly one of the two oldest girls, since there is no mention of Jean or Jane later. Several of the children later settled in the United States. ** Some notes show Henry's first wife Agnes dying in 1831 aged 29 - this is clearly impossible since that would make her 11 when she married. The marriage records shows her being from Govan. There is also a marriage record there between Henry and Agnes "Wayne". Agnes Wayne was born about 1792 in Govan. If this is Agnes, then she would have been 39 if she died in 1831. Henry's second wife Sarah Mann may have later married a John Renwick and settled around Cazaville near Valleyfield, Quebec. |
